Registering online is not the official petition signature. Saskatchewan law requires the official petition to be signed in person on paper.
How the Petition Will Work
From Registering Your Support to an Official Vote
To require a referendum, the petition must obtain valid signatures from at least 10% of Saskatoon electors—currently approximately 26,700 people.
The official petition must be signed in person on paper, with the proposed referendum resolution appearing on every signature page. Online registration does not count as an official petition signature.
Once the first paper signature is collected, we have only 90 days to complete and submit the petition. We are therefore registering prospective signers, recruiting volunteers and establishing signing locations before beginning the official campaign.

We believe major civic decisions should be made with the community—not simply for the community.
Our goal: collect enough legally valid signatures to require Saskatoon City Council to place the future of DEED before the voters.

The Downtown Event and Entertainment District (DEED) is the City of Saskatoon's proposed redevelopment project, with an estimated cost of approximately $1.6 billion, centered on:
